Under some conditions RDPDOS, IRM, and RDPWin cannot open Pervasive files on the data server and will return one of the following errors when starting:
| Product | Error |
|---|---|
| RDPDOS | Stat 171 Opening file RDP01\TABLFILE.DAT |
| IRM | Unknown Version Call Error - Stat: 171 |
| RDPWin | Stat: 171 - Error: Stat: 171
|
When troubleshooting any problem with the Pervasive Database, the first step is always to verify the version of the Pervasive Engine that is installed on the Data Server and the version of the Pervasive Client on the problem workstation. If either the engine or client are not current they must be updated. See "How to determine the Pervasive Version".
Upgrading to Pervasive Version 10.xx can be done without calling RDP support.
Customers using a Windows 2008 server must run Pervasive Version 10.x, since
Pervasive Version 9.x does not work on 2008 servers.
Note: All users must exit RDP during the upgrade,
including the IRM and all interface workstations.
Schedule this installation at a time when the system can be down for
approximately 4 - 8 hours AND when RDP support is open. RDP 24-hour
support is not available for Pervasive Updates.

NOTE: The PSQL Workgroup engine is only needed for installations where a single user workstation will be running RDP. All other machines including the IRM, interface computers and RDPWin workstations can run on the PSQL V.10 client (service) installation

The solution for all products (RDPDOS, IRM, or RDPWIN) is to change the SAT entry with Regedit as follows. Note, for a more complete explanation of Pervasive SAT entries, see "KI0009 - Correcting a Stat 94 on the IRM Bridge Server - Changing SAT Entries"
Start-Run-Regedit. Browse to the following key:
| Version 7.94 |
Version 7.xx is not supported |
|---|---|
| Version 8.xx | HKEY_Local_Machine | Software | Pervasive Software | Communications Requester | Version 8 | Settings. |
| Version 9.xx | HKEY_Local_Machine | Software | Pervasive Software | Communications Requester | Version 9 | Settings. |
Delete the "NumSatEntries" key, as well as SatEntry0, and SatEntry1 (or 2, 3) if they exist.
Close Regedit and restart RDP (RDPDOS, IRM, or RDPWIN). This should recreate the SAT entry
Verify that SatEntry0 appears similar to: RDPDataz,2,4,0,1,0. The "0" at the end is the critical problem. The error 171 occurs because this is a "1".
| BAD SAT Entry | RDPDataz,2,4,0,1,1 |
|---|---|
| GOOD SAT Entry (appears Below) |
RDPDataz,2,4,0,1,0
|

The Regedit view of a good Pervasive Version 9 SAT entry appears below. For a more complete explanation of Pervasive SAT entries, see "KI0009 - Correcting a Stat 94 on the IRM Bridge Server - Changing SAT Entries"

For a more complete explanation of Pervasive SAT entries, see "KI0009 - Correcting a Stat 94 on the IRM Bridge Server - Changing SAT Entries" If the problem continues, update the client software to Version 9.1 as described below.

| Supported Environments as of10/15/08 See Hardware Requirements for an entire list. |
|
|---|---|
| Workstations | All workstations must use either Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista (Business or Ultimate) 32-bit only (not 64 bit on workstations) with all service packs installed . RDP no longer supports Windows 95, 98, ME, or 2000 Workstations. For RDPWin, a minimum of 1 GB of RAM and a dual core processor or faster are required. See Hardware Requirements for an entire list. |
| Servers | The data server must be Windows 2003 or 2008 32 or 64 bit with all service packs installed and at least 4GB of RAM (16 for customers with 20 or more workstations). RDP no longer supports Novell Netware Servers. Feel free to call RDP Support at 970- 845-7108 with any hardware questions. |
| Pervasive | The Pervasive database must be Version 9.52 or higher with all Service Packs installed. See Pervasive Overview. |
| Printing Issues | RDPWin supports all standard Windows Printing environments. Our legacy RDP-DOS system may not be able to print if the printer is USB, TCP/IP or wireless. Additionally, printing remotely with Terminal Services or Citrix may not work with RDP-DOS. |
| NetMeeting or Remote Desktop |
To provide the highest level of support, RDP requires access to your system with Remote Desktop or Microsoft NetMeeting. Carbon Copy and other remote tools are not supported. See Hardware Requirements for more details. |
| RDPWin | RDPWin is our Microsoft .Net Windows-based software. It accesses the same database at the same time as your existing RDP-DOS and Internet Reservation Module (IRM). Please review: |
