Changing Credit Card Processor Used by SDC
RDP customers have relationships with more than a
dozen credit card processors for card verification and deposits. The RDP
software interfaces with a ‘middleware’ product developed by Southern
DataComm (SDC). The SDC software in turn interfaces with a wide variety of
card processors. This approach offers two primary benefits:
- As individual credit card processors change
rules or procedures, SDC makes the appropriate updates, and the RDP
interface remains the same.
- RDP customers can change processors very
easily by following the steps below:
For more information on credit card processing,
please see
SDC
Credit Card Interface Overview.
- Compare various credit card processors. RDP has a preferred credit card
processing partner, SaleSynergy. The contact is: Camille Fowler 970-926-2660 or
camile.fowler@salesynergy.net.
- Once a processor is selected,
call RDP Sales and purchase the "Credit Card Processor Change
Service". The fee starts at $1,000 and increases based on the
number of merchant numbers. Please do not have your credit card processor
or bank representative call
RDP until after purchasing the change service from RDP. The entire
process can take between 3 - 5 weeks.
- After purchase, please
print and complete the
SDC Merchant Activation Form
and license agreement
with the new processor's information, and fax it to RDP at 970-845-0150.
Note: Adobe Reader is required to print
this form. See www.adobe.com to
download this free software. If
the activation forms are not completed accurately, the process will be delayed.
- RDP will forward the completed activation form to SDC and the process of building your new merchant file
begins.
- A dedicated Windows XP PC with at least 512 megs of RAM is required and acts as the gateway
(bridge PC) .
- Properties currently using a modem with a dial-up phone line to process credit
cards should consider converting to Internet-based, high-speed
credit card processing. A transaction that
takes 30 seconds on a modem can be completed in less than six (6) seconds with high-speed access. See High-speed
Internet Credit Card Processing.
- Once RDP receives the new merchant file from SDC, your RDP account manager schedules an RDP Support
Technician to activate the change.
- The entire process from order to installation normally takes 3 - 5 weeks, so
please be patient. Remind your new processor of this as well. If you
have any questions at any point of the process, please call Rita at
970-845-1143.
Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance
and RDPWin
April, 2008
Payment Card Industry (PCI)
compliance is different for every RDP customer
based on the volume of credit card transactions. RDP software may not be PCI
compliant for all customers. There are many PCI
compliance requirements that must be satisfied which have nothing to do with
the RDP system. Every RDP customer must carefully examine the full PCI requirements.
It is the responsibility of each
customer to assure full PCI compliance. RDP is NOT
LIABLE for damages or fines related to any level of credit card
security. RDP offers no
assistance, guarantees, or advice regarding PCI compliance, and cannot be
held liable for any damages resulting from customer failure to comply with
full PCI compliance standards.
RDP Suggests...
- Read and implement all non-RDP requirements, some
of which are outlined on Visa’s website at
Visa Compliance Validation.
- Upgrade to the current version of
all RDP products.
- Upgrade to the current version of
Southern Datacomm Software
or contact SDC's Technical Support at (866) 709-7880.
- Review data encryption
documentation and select Level 3 or 4, which may
or may not be PCI compliant, based on your credit card
transaction level.
