When a guest submits a credit card for a deposit on the IRM the system uses SDC (Southern Datacom) to process the deposit. If the guest's card is denied, the system now saves this information as a deleted reservation (a reservation of type "P9" if a room was assigned or "I9" if room type only). These deleted reservations do not effect availability.
Reservations are only stored as "deleted" by the IRM when the guest's credit card fails to process, and the guest does not elect to try another card. The deleted reservation information can be used to contact the guest if needed to verify if he/she would like to make a reservation. The reason the credit card was denied will appear on the reservation screen in "cancellation reason".
